From our News Partners at WCBD-TV:
Hurricane Humberto continues to hold his own with maximum sustained winds near 85 MPH just northwest of the Cape Verde Islands.
"The forecast is coming together as expected with Humberto," said Storm Team 2 Meteorologist Josh Marthers just before the start of News 2 Today. "Humberto will not become a monster hurricane and will likely weaken over the weekend as it bends more to the west."
The latest forecasts show Humberto heading west over the weekend before turning north early next week.
"This storm poses no threat to the United States mainland," added Marthers.
In addition to Humberto, Tropical Depression Gabrielle is crawling to the northwest near Bermuda but will eventually rocket to the northeast over the next day or two away from the United States.
"There is another area of disturbed weather we are watching which will likely be named in the Gulf by the weekend," said Marthers. In addition to that disturbance, several tropical waves are poised to roll off of the African continent over the coming days which will be monitored carefully.
