A Well-Known Children's Author made a stop in the Lowcountry

A well-known children's author,  Kwame Alexander, stopped by Burke High School in Charleston, South Carolina on Thursday.

Alexander is promoting his new novel, "He said, She said."

Set in Charleston, South Carolina, this young adult book mixes social protest and star-crossed romance.

Kwame Alexander, Author of his new novel "He Said, She Said"-"When I began working on this novel, I knew it was going to be set in Charleston and not just because I love the food, but I felt like the young people really had a voice.  I wanted to showcase that voice and show what happens when young people come together and really use their voice for good."

Kwame Alexander also spoke to students about empowering the world.  And encouraged them to take a stand against public issues, going on in school and the community.

Kwame Alexander is from Northern Virginia, just outside of Washington, D.C.
